What a fun week we've had!!  From HMS Step Up Day to our Learning Celebration to Field Day, it's been a whopper of a week!!  Let's go back and review....

HMS Step Up Day
We met all of the 5th grade teachers and got a tour of the building.  The current 5th graders made us a Survival Handbook which had all sorts of advice and interesting information about what to expect in 5th grade.  We've had a great time at YES and now we can't wait to go to the Middle School!      Moms & Dads - we are ready...we promise!!

Learning Celebration
On Wednesday, we had our Learning Celebration!  We enjoyed sharing our portfolios with our families.  Boy, we learned a ton this year!!  We wrote and read a beautiful poem that we dedicated to Caoimhe.  After that, we planted two pear trees by the garden.  When we were done, we went around the circle and stated what we would remember about 4th grade.  Here are a few pictures....

Signature Shirts
On Wednesday, we all got to sign each other's shirts!  We got signatures from our teachers, classmates and friends from other classes.  Our shirts are a fun reminder of the special friendships we had in 4th grade.

Field Day!
On Thursday, we all participated in Field Day!!  The rain held off, so we could enjoy all the activities on the fields.  We got our faces painted, jumped in the bouncy house, mastered the obstacle course, panned for gold, delivered pizza, played Quidditch, played Star Wars Dodgeball and MORE! We want to extend a special thank you to ALL of the parent volunteers who helped run the activities.  They did a great job and we appreciate all their enthusiasm and positive energy!!  Here are some pictures from the day...

For Next Week...
  • On Monday, students can wear beach/Hawaiian themed clothes.  Hats and sunglasses are okay too!  Beach towels or blankets are also great for read aloud time.
  • Students may also bring in board games or Legos on Monday.  No electronics please.
  • Poetry books will be ready for delivery next week.  We promise!
  • Tuesday is a half day.  Students are dismissed at 12:00; lunch will not be served.
Thank you for reading our blog all year.  We hope you have a wonderful summer!!!
Signed,
The Parkinville Students
